Welcome to the Marketable Skills Team Page!
Mission: The Marketable Skills Promise Team shall support Brockton’s youth in their efforts to attain economic independence by creating linkages within the community to promote access to career and educational resources and to broaden support for new and existing initiatives.
The Effective Education team believes that every child has the potential to become self sufficient through education and career advancement. One way the team is working to accomplish this vision is by piloting a new competency-based job readiness portfolio. The portfolio requirements fit within existing job readiness program guidelines, but provide a unified set of competencies that can be marketed to area employers. The team hopes that employers will recognize the value of this portfolio experience when it is listed by a youth on his resume. If you are intereseted in promoting this mission, please call one of the co-chairs or attend our next meeting on Tuesday December 11th at 8:30 a.m. in the lower level of the Student Center at Massasoit Community College.
First Aid, CPR, and Babysitting Training
It is important that our community's youth recieve skills that will help them become marketable in the workforce today. If you would like to gain essential skills such as CPR and First Aid training, please view the list of Fall 2007 Trainings available at the American Red Cross Brockton Office.
10 Tips for Academic Success
The summer months are coming to an end and young people are preparing to head back to school. The Boys and Girls Club of America has compiled a list of Ten Tips for Academic Successin order to help children succeed in school.
